Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night confirming they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and had been in communication with the league office.

The organization did not mention the player by name in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete directly, shared a series of photos on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals injured. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
